Chipmunks!
Last Saturday was warm and sunny. On the hill behind our house, two chipmunks were rustling through the leaves chasing each other all day. The mister observed them on several occasions and captured a good shot of a quickly moving creature. Neither chipmunk has been seen since-- whether weather or cats we do not know.

There are no chipmunks out here but our squirrel has finally become brave enough to visit the bird feeder next to our window, mabye made brave because of the snow on the ground for several months now. We seem to have shy squirrels.
I'd have thought that 'shy squirrels' was an oxymoron. I have a bird feeder that's supposed to be squirrel-proof... there is a wire screen around it that allows small birds in, and keeps large birds and squirrels out. They can't directly reach the seed through the screen, but they can climb onto the feeder and rattle it until some of the seeds fall out.
