Red

Without some white and blue, it would be silly it call it patriotic, but red does seem to be the dominant color around our garden at the moment. The cardinal flower (thus far elusive to photograph) is red. Red red red. And the poppies are less orange than the photo suggests.

Without belittling our problems or the greatness of other nations, I do feel lucky to be an American. Happy Independence Day!

Some aliums that strike me as floral fireworks.

Have they stopped mowing your poppies down?

I was home so I was able to stop the guy last week. Most of the poppies now are along side the carport.

Your flowers are lovely. I wish I had a few red ones. Purple and blue grow the best out here. Although, the galardias are great and the Black-eyed Susans are outdoing themselves this year. The wild ones are thick.
In one of my wildflower beds I have some lovely blue flowers to go with your reds

I envy your colors! The arrival of Annika has detained me from doing any gardening this year, so our yard is looking sad and neglected, especially since at this time of year, there aren't many perennials either.

However, some of the native plants that I had put in last year, and which I thought were dead when they vanished in August's heat, have re-appeared this year, much to my delight.
