Italian Legumes I (without images)

Spring here in Northern Italy is rife with blooming beans. What I believe are black locusts grow wildly along the railroad tracks, broom pops up in odd places, and I am a huge fan of wisteria, which is done blooming in Como, but is still in full flower here in Brunate, a village above Como (up a 50% grade on a funiculare). I've been almost 35 hours in the country, however, and have yet to eat a bean. Don't worry; I will.

SS - I love that your first post from Italy is about beans. That has made my day which is being spent grading finals.

Do mesquite trees count as beans? If so, I certainly live in the land of beans! BTW, every year Nate's dad plants the famous (in this family) 'Swedish beans' that have been passed down from his grandfather (Nate's great grandfather, who was Swedish). In the first weekend of June, Nate and I are going up to Santa Fe to help him plant this year's crop of beans.
