Climbing

Dianthus is a climber. If there is something he can be on, up, in or through, he will be on, up, in or through it, whether it is stairs, a box, a dishwasher, or a step ladder. Based on comments from people who are around other one year olds, Dianthus is unusually enthusiastic in his climbing.

My brother and I had a conversation recently, while watching Annika dig in the sand at the beach, about all the future career paths one can read into any given toddler activity. Annika's digging might mean she'll be an archaeologist! A construction manager! An investigative reporter! A ditch digger?

Dianthus might be a rock climber, a tree surgeon, a circus acrobat, a social climber?

I think that Dianthus actually wants to be a cat. Mister Splashy Pants also seems to enjoy being on, in, or under things and Dianthus has picked particular cat baskets to climb into.

Beth, everyone needs some dianthus in his or her garden.

He is very active, climbing, crawling as fast as a junebug (is that fast???), into and out of boxes. I think he'll need all of those skills to escape from the girls that are chasing him!!!! Quite handsome isn't he?
