Some scenes from last week's flood from our house (see post below the mole for the link to the arial photographs). Interestingly, during the same week, the Mister's parents lost several windows to golf ball sized hail flying in over 60 mph winds, my parents' cat-sitter threw a party at their house while they were in Seattle and I was blissfully ignorant gaining the Raleigh in my family state capital competition. The "before" (aka "dry") pictures are from May 2007, so when you're not being overwhelmed by how much water we had, you can notice how much the plants have grown. The white building behind our carport sits on a tall, full sized garage.

Those photos are impressive. I am so glad the water only got into your basement. Too bad we did not get pictures of the mud and muck we cleaned up.
I am so glad that I do not own a home...
As the English teacher said, "Ain't nature grand." Two picture windows destroyed, two other windows, several screens, the entire roof, the siding on two sides of the house, all the guttering, and numerous other smaller losses were the cost of the hail which came on two different days---one having golf ball sized hail, the other about tennis ball. And we were so much luckier than the folks in Manhattan who had softball sized hail and a tornado as an add-on.

Amazing! I wouldn't normally think that having a flooded basement could be considered lucky, but with that much water it seems like it was lucky it was *only* the basement.
