When I received the flier for The CRC Handbook of Avian Body Masses earlier in the week, the Mister suggested I start a new column on the blog, "Not Currently Reading." A new column is too much work, but books I'm not reading may become an occasional feature, like vegetable recipes.

I can understand why one might find it difficult to make time for this book; although the well-educated person has to be widely read and have a storehouse of knowledge on a broad group of subjects. One never knows when the body masses of birds may come up in polite conversation over a fine glass of bubbly.
